Dear nature lovers,
We are Finn (age 10), Silas (10) and Casper (6), and we are the Barking Owlets.
We are taking part in the annual Twitchathon next weekend, which involves teams of birdwatchers around the country spotting (or "twitching") as many species as possible in a set 24-hour period. It's sort of like a car rally, but with binoculars, and you get to choose your own adventure. Our dad is driving us around. The organisers have made him sign a form promising to stop and rest for at least 3 hours.
If you'd like to encourage this sort of thing, please sponsor us.
Every dollar raised goes to bird conservation, via Birdlife Australia.
Finn's favourite bird is the Peregrine Falcon. Silas's is the Splendid Wren. Casper's is the Yellow-Tufted Honeyeater (aka Tufty).
Of course, you could just say, 'Nup, we've already given to the Hairy-Nosed Wombat,' and that's fine, even if it was a pair of nose-hair clippers. But several of Victoria's birds are in very hairy situations, too.
Many thanks for your support, and we'll let you know how we go.
Finn, Silas and Casper van Tiggelen
PS Please help us promote the cause via social media if you can. Dad can't; he's hopeless.
