Story
With less than 1 doctor per 100,000 of the population in much of Nepal, the need to train rural doctors cannot be emphasised enough.
Doctors for Nepal improves healthcare in rural Nepal by providing scholarships to underprivileged medical and nursing students, who return to work in their communities once qualified, thus providing sustainable healthcare.
With a close ex-Gurkha friend and having had the privilege to visit Nepal, I know firsthand how resilient, proud and genuine the Nepalese people are. Conditions in rural areas must be very arduous, trained medical professionals are hard to come by (see statistic above). Often the long, dangerous journeys to hospital/clinic are detrimental to the patients health. So with your help, however small, you can improve the chances of these great people leading happy, healthy lives wherever they live.
Thank you.
