Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our page! In June & July 2012 a selection of Baringa employees will be participating in two separate endurance challenges…The National 3 Peaks (30 June-1 July) and the Marmotte cycle (7 July), with one brave (crazy?) individual taking on both…
The National 3 Peaks Challenge:
On the weekend of the 30th June 15 intrepid employees from Baringa will be attempting to complete the National 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours. In the early hours of Saturday morning we will climb Snowdon (Wales) before hopping straight in the minibus and heading for Scaffel Pike (England). We will climb Scafell Pike just before nightfall meaning it could get pretty dark on the way back down. We will then jump straight back in the minibus and head for Ben Nevis (Scotland), driving through the night, to hopefully start our final ascent at 4am and enable us to complete all 3 within 24 hours. It promises to be a tough challenge! The team includes the following: Olie Fleming, David Wilson, Ryan Thomson, Alex Lyons, Dan Lomax, Anya Davis, Guy Munton, Stephen Brown, Aine Cairey, Ben Leighton, Jonathan Amphlett, Charli Bryden, Marc Daube, Annie Harris and Dan Gaunt.
Marmotte:
Following on in the Baringa Summer of sporting pain a team of 8 riders will be among the 7,000 tackling the Marmotte cyling event in the French Alps on the 7 July. This has the reputation of being the toughest one day cycling Sportif and involves 175km and approximately 5,000m of climbing over the Col Du Glandon, Col du Telegraph and Col du Galibier before returning to Bourg D’Oisans and finishing up the 21 hairpin bend climb to the ski station of L’Alpe D’Huez. Marco Pantani holds the record time for the 14km ascent of the Alpe at 37’ 35’’ with Lance Armstrong a few seconds back. It is somewhat unlikely his record will be under threat on this particular occasion but the pain and suffering will be in a fantastic cause so any donations would be hugely appreciated! The Team includes the following: Paul Vivash, Neil Winkworth, Emma Towers, Alistair Groves, Robin Macpherson, Iain Heron, David Wilson, Jon Cleaver and Mark Grover.
In order to spur us on we have decided to fundraise for Shelter. http://england.shelter.org.uk/
Shelter tackles the root causes of homelessness and poor quality housing. It aims to gives people the support necessary to get themselves back onto their feet after significant life changing events happen which impacts their housing. For example debt, illness, job loss, marriage break up, landlord and maintenance issues etc. Any donation, even of the smallest amount really is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
