Story
Having lost my precious 18 year old daughter Lucy nearly 5 years ago, my life was shattered. With invaluable encouragement and support from family and friends, I have managed to make great progress.
Being part of a local bereaved parents support group 'Forever Parents' I met Julie Forster who had recently lost her 7 year old daughter Freya. Julie suggested joining Jog on the Tyne, beginners group. I hadn't run since I was at school and Julie had never run. We hoped joining a group would help us physically and mentally and give us much needed routine.
By February we managed a 5K Park Run and eventually 10K run. The Winter was harsh weather, but we kept up with our weekly JOT sessions and 2 sessions of home work 😩. Everyone at JOT has been incredibly supportive and we would have given up without their encouragement and wealth of knowledge.
The Great North Run seemed the most appropriate way to celebrate our reclaimed fitness.
The GNAA came to both our daughters emergencies and despite not being able to save their lives gave them the best care. Without the incredible emergency service they provide, so many more lives would be lost and patients with life threatening injuries could not be so quickly transported to hospital. GNAA is an invaluable charity to support and any of us could need its services. I know there seems to be endless please for sponsorship and I apologise, but any donation will be greatly appreciated.
