Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 24th April I will be running the London Marathon. You might ask, why?  Well, it's all about the pounds!  Whilst this bird was fattening up for Christmas I felt it was time to lose the pounds through training, by pounding the streets of London, and raising lots of £'s for a worthy cause.  I also believe that everyone should try to do their bit for the local community.   So, I have chosen YMCA Peterborough to receive 50% of the funds raised.  Please pledge today to help me to help others.

Most of us have food to eat (often too much), a bed to sleep in, a home to live in, and support from family or friends.  Please spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves, especially young people who have suffered many forms of abuse in their young lives through no fault of their own.

Imagine being a young person, homeless, sleeping rough, foraging for food in bins, or begging for money on the streets to survive another freezing night alone, it's not fun! Together we could put a stop to this and make a difference to someone's life.

Please reach into your hearts, your wallets and your purses...

...Transform the lives of vulnerable young people by sponsoring me,  donating or consider holding your own fundraising event.

Here are just a few examples of how the money you give could actively help a young person:

  1. Just £15 could provide a young homeless person a safe place to stay at a YMCA for the night.
  2. £30 could provide a young person with the coaching, skills and confidence they need to give them a better chance of a job.
  3. £80 could give a holiday to a young carer giving them a break from their burdens and worries.  They can also meet others in a similar situation and enjoy some fun and freedom.
  4. £500 could fund family mediation sessions for 3 families, helping them to work through their problems and stay together.

Did you know the YMCA has a Community Gym at Bretton which caters for everyone, including those with disabilities?  See how the money you donate helps others, please visit... http://ymcafitness.org.uk
