This page has been reopened in light of the Bryan Stout Memorial - Junior Womans National Series Road Race. I know my father would be extremely flattered to have had a race named in his honour and I thank Catford Cycling Club from the bottom of my heart.
As you may or may not know my father Bryan Stout was killed in a tragic and ironic traffic accident whilst on cycling holiday in Mallorca in April 2017. The reason I say ironic is because he was a relentless campaigner for road safety for cyclists. I have been told that he was struck from behind whilst cycling in a correct manner and I only take solace in the fact that he was doing something that he loved in a place he loved, cycling in the sun in Mallorca.
He was a man full of life with a passion for cycling and jazz. He loved to dance, it always amazed me to see him on the dance floor jiving. Even in his later years he would still be up there giving it his all. Oh and he did love a hat. There wasn't many occasions that he wasn't wearing one. As for cycling I can't remember a time when there wasn't a bike around somewhere but I don't have to tell you that, those of you that know him know how much cycling meant to him. He was a member of Catford Cycling Club for well over 60 years and was Catford through and through.
The money raised on this page will go to Brake who tirelessly campaign to make our roads and streets a safer place and give support to those who are effected by accidents on our roads. So please dig deep and donate to a very worthy cause.
