Story
Omar graduated from university and can't find a job. Sana's uncle sexually assaulted her. She wants to die. Dawood lives under tyranny at home. Salma believes her sin is too big and Allah will never forgive her. Raihan has secretly turned to alcohol as a way of coping with bereavement. These are just 5 examples of the hundreds of calls that Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) receive on a daily basis. MYH are doing phenomenal work, providing a helpline service for young muslims in challenging situations. These phone calls lend a listening ear, provide a way out, and in some cases, even save lives. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 crisis, there are no volunteers and not enough staff to take on calls; calls from people like Omar, Sana and Dawood. Missed calls under these circumstances could be fatal for many Muslim youth. Lack of funds mean MYH can’t afford to have more staff on the front line taking calls. When you run a service like MYH, its sometimes hard to sleep knowing that those missed calls did not get the help they needed. £10,000 would cover the cost to fund the presence of more staff to provide faith and culturally sensitive support to hundreds of Muslim youth in the UK. The #Help10 campaign is taking on this challenge. Join the team page and raise just £100! The average call at MYH lasts roughly an hour, and it costs around £10. The £100 you raise will therefore help 10 callers who desperately need support. Join now and #Help10!
