last weekend my lovely Nephew Ben suffered a catastrophic brain aneurysm which left him in a coma fighting for his life. After a week of intensive care from the amazing staff at the Leeds general infirmary Ben Sadly succumbed this weekend surrounded by his loved ones. He had just turned 28.
He had just started a new job and was close to finishing a masters degree in music. A hugely talented musician in both classical and contemporary he played a multitude of instruments, was very creative, stylish, kind, and loving and just a lovely guy. He will leave a massive hole in our world and will be missed terribly by his Parents Sue and Steve, Sisters Emily and Charlotte, all four of his proud grandparents and his adoring girlfriend Alice with whom he was building a life in Leeds. Ben was also much loved by her parents, Patsy and Gerry and our entire extended family and all his many loyal friends, lots of whom have been on hand and visiting with great shows of support and kindness which has been a real comfort for the family in the most difficult of times.
I had already planned to take part in this cycle event and have been training since November but after this news I've struggled to decide if I could go ahead but I wanted to carry on to be able to honour my young nephew in the best way I know how. It's a hard ride, over a series of big mountains in the Italian dolomites. I'll do my best to get round and will be thinking of Ben all the way. I would be deeply honoured if you would consider donating any amount, no matter how small towards this excellent cause.
Thank you
Richard
