Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Firrstly, please let me thank everyone who's so kindly donated to this charity so far. It's greatly appreciated. It's been a great experience in challenging ourselves with both the training, multiple marathons for myself and the fundraising in name of this great cause!

We've taken this fantastic opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for a terrific cause, the Spinal Injuries Association - a cause that is very close to my heart!

Some of you may or may not know, but my father was disabled whilst serving in the armed forces and I grew up seeing and perhaps always trying to understand how other individuals who've suffered spinal injuries cope with their lives.

Having spent a few years now living in Whistler, Canada, our eyes have been opened to see a number of disabled athletes living their life to the full. Whistler has quite a proportunately large amount of disabled individuals working and playing amongst its community and these guys continue to ski and bike in and around the mountains as hard as anyone and it's nothing short of awe-inspiring.

The recent Paralympics further showcased these guys commitment and efforts to their cause to the rest of world and now we would love to assist everyone's dedication in helping to raise awareness and funds that are used in furthering research, care and support for everyone who so tenderly give to those affected by these life changing injuries.

So if you feel able to help support us in our cause to raise money by taking part in this years San Francisco & Berlin Marathons and also now a few of us will run in the June Vancouver half marathon too, please dig deep and donate whatever you feel comfortable to commit.

:- Just as an update, I've been pounding the local streets and mountain trails daily and now aleady ran the Vanouver marathon and half marathon. The San Francisco marathon poses its own challenges with its ridiculously early 5.30 am start and its many hills, can't wait. Pain all in the name of 'fun' and charity!

- San Fran now completed. Tough, tough course, too much sightseeing before the big day and a start time that was way too early, but completed. Just nine more weeks to recover, train and ready myself and friends for the massive Berlin marathon. Phew!

Please also feel free to forward this link onto anyone who you feel may like to see this or might be able to assist.

Kind regards,

Ashley
