The Kinder appeal supports the ward at Nottingham Childrens hospital where my son Jenson is treated and will be until he is 19 years old. Jenson is now 9 months old and suffers from a rare kidney condition called Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome. This means that he was born with kidneys which dont function properly, and will need a kidney transplant when he is around 2 years old.
At present my wife Liz and I look after Jenson at home, it took weeks of training in Nottingham to enable us to do this. Without their continual support Jenson would be a very poorly boy, however their outstanding treatment and training has enabled us to have him at home for the past 6 months with no major issues.
Nottingham childrens hospital is the nearest renal childrens specialist to East Anglia as chronic renal failure in children is rare. Liz and I would like to raise money so the appeal can continue their research in childrens renal disease and continue to support and train families like ourselves.
