Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. 

This November I'll be partaking in Movember and growing my moustache. Whereas normally I would expect this to provoke ridicule and alienation, I'm hoping that in this particular month it'll prompt a donation to a good cause. 

That cause is the U.K. Thalassaemia Society. Thalassaemia is particularly prevalent in Pakistan where my family are from and where I was born. My older brother was diagnosed with it at birth and it affected him for his 27 years. It's not something much of a light is shed on and sufferers don't have a lot of public exposure, as with many diseases, so it makes most sense to me that I spotlight this charity here in the UK as part of my fundraising this month.

UK Thalassaemia Society (Est. 1976) supports people affected by thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder which requires lifelong blood transfusions & various other medical treatment. The charity offers support, advice, counselling & distributes information encouraging blood screening. It also organises conferences for patients & health professionals to keep them up to date on the latest treatments available.
