Story
In 2017 we carried out our long distance cycle ride and a three peak hike in memory of our close friend Arran and now 2018’s fundraising starts with #HalfMarathonForArran.
This latest challenge will see Dan King running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 25th March 2018. Prior to training for this event Dan had never done any kind of race or endurance running, so it promises to be another tough challenge.
Our friend Arran died suddenly in November 2016 following unexpected complications related to the rare condition he was suffering from, GATA2 mutation.
GATA2 mutations and deficiencies were only classified in 2011 and Arran was eventually diagnosed in 2015. GATA2 mutation is a rare genetic disorder that affects the bodies autoimmune system.
We, as Arran's friends, wish to raise money for the Arran Thomas Tribute Fund by cycling, hiking and now running. The Arran Thomas Tribute Fund will directly fund GATA2 mutation and deficiency research.
If you can, please donate and help us reach our target.

The South Wales to Southend cycle challenge will take our Seven riders, Jack, Jonathan, Graham, Josh, Mike, Alison and Tom, across the country from Arran's homeland of Wales, to a place he once called home, Southend.
South Wales was always Arran's spiritual home, and somewhere he was so very proud of, so there was no better place to start our journey. Day one of our cycle will take us from Port Talbot through to Bristol. Bristol is where Arran spent many weekends with friends, partying the best way he knew how. Then Day Two will take us on to Reading, the place where he spent time as a child and where he was making a future for him and his partner Danni. Day Three is full pedal power on to Southend. On this final leg of the journey more riders will join the challenge to bring us in to Southend en-masse. Arran loved his time in Southend and took his friends there at many opportunities. We will all be proud to cycle in to Southend together for him.
It will take three full days cycling, covering a minimum of 90 miles per day, to make our goal of reaching Southend by Easter Sunday.
