Story
On Saturday 17th June I'll be attempting to run The Wall, a brutal but iconic 69-mile ultra-marathon along Hadrian's Wall.
I'm going to run it in memory of Chris Smith, a close friend of my younger brother Cyrus, who passed away from cancer in his teens. Remarkably, this day is the 5 year anniversary to the day. I would love to raise as much money, awareness and support for Unite Against Cancer (UAC), a fantastic charity set up by Colin Smith in memory of his younger brother Chris.
I have such fond memories of Chris and Cyrus together. I'll always remember the Halloween when I took them trick-or-treating in return for 25% of their sweet earnings. Chris had an amazing sense of humour and I know that he touched the lives of many people.
It will be an honour to run with Chris in mind and I think it'll be what pulls me through the toughest parts of The Wall. My doctorate thesis is due next week so I haven't exactly been able to train recently and the longest that I've ever run was 35 miles a few months ago!
So please dig deep and donate some money to UAC. I know it takes a few minutes but it will be worthwhile I promise! Even if you think you can only donate a little, every donation counts. So thank you in advance! And I look forward to telling you how it goes...
