Story
The Great British Bike Ride.
To be honest, my brother was the inspiration behind me participating in the Great British Bike Ride. He trekked across the Sahara for charity 2 years ago and completed it successfully. This got me thinking about what I too could do for charity now that I am 40, getting on a bit and may be strong fitness challenges are in the genes after all!
When I got the e-mail about entering the GREAT BRITISH BIKE RIDE, I didn’t hesitate to reply.
This is a great way to test myself, get fit and raise money for 2 of my favourite charities.
I also take great pride in announcing to my friends that I am cycling from Paris to London over 4 1/2 days with a group of work colleagues from across the France network, some who I never ever met before. The look on their faces when I tell them, is in itself, PRICELESS. I think it’s the 320 km that gets them every time!
I am not the world’s fittest person and this is my biggest challenge EVER, after giving birth to 2 rugrats of course. Having said that, I think my biggest challenge yet is to prove my cynics wrong! I can do this, YES I CAN.
Thanking you in advance for your support.
P.S. My mum has offered to show up with a group of friends to wave me in as I cycle in to Whitehall-God help us all.
