Story
As I reach my 70’s I realise that I have the possessions I want and respectfully ask that you resist thoughts about buying me any sort of present. If you would like to make a donation to a project which reflects my interests in bees, pollinators and supporting disadvantaged communities in the third world, that would be lovely.
This women’s group live almost on the equator in the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains in Western Uganda. Conditions are well suited to beekeeping. They are working with support from Bees Abroad to become beekeepers which will mean they have a source of income independent from their husbands. Money from the sale of honey and other hive products will improve educational, health care and general living standards. Bees Abroad are seeking to expand the project and have selected thirty additional women to be trained by the Bees Abroad local partner, and given materials to make 150 hives and all other essential equipment.
With our support, these women can empower themselves through beekeeping!
