This is ridiculous. At an age when I should be settling down with my pipe and slippers (forget the pipe!) I have decided to abseil from 400+ feet off the top of the National Abseil Tower in Northampton - that's 2.5 times the height of Nelson's column!!

Having experienced the thrill of skydiving at the age of 60 it looks like I'm going adrenalin seeking again just 3 years short of my 70th birthday.

My only comfort is that it is for a fantastic charity that does such good work for people with sight loss across Leicestershire and Rutland.
