Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 4th May 2021 my team and I passed legislation that outlawed all forms of human sacrifice in Uganda, and it was a landmark achievement not just for me personally but for every vulnerable child suffering at the hands of such violence. It took over 7 years for our Law to pass, but this is just the start.
Human Sacrifice is the mutilation, dismembering and/or killing for ritualistic and/or monetary gains, and more often than not, it is children who are targeted. Even though we have passed this legislation, we still need to protect the children and communities in Uganda where this terrible practice continues and ensure this new Law is properly implemented.
Together with Children on the Edge, we have a plan to do this and with your help we would like to do the following:
1. Run awareness and training programs within communities
This means getting a team of local people together in communities who are suffering from human sacrifice. We will teach and train these communities, with a focus on schools and education, that there are other ways in which to prosper.
2. Training up the judiciary
This entails running training programs to ensure the judiciary are brought up to speed on the benefits of prosecuting defendants with this Law, and familiarising them with each new provision. With enough support, this could extend to having dedicated child sacrifice task forces permanently based in the districts which are suffering from human sacrifice.
3. Roll out this Law out in other countries.
Many other countries suffer from human sacrifice, and some NGOs are already drafting legislation there. We want to support them and share what we have learned.
