Story

2018 - as below really!

2017 - I'm running the 10K again, may not seem sponsoring after all these times but don't worry I've really let myself go, so it'll be quite the achievement! The TCT Unit is up and running but they still need funds to keep it going and extend on the great work they do.

*******

In May I'll be running the Bristol 10K, and in July cycling from Bristol to Glastonbury and back, in memory of my best friend Ella Redman to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal.

When Ella was being treated for bone cancer, she spent over 100 nights on a hospital ward, and although the staff did their best to look after her it just wasn't set up to cater to a 19/20 year old young woman. Ella was a big part of the push for Bristol to get its own teenage cancer unit, a place that could make the worst times in some young people's lives a bit more managable.

As Ella wrote in November: The worst part, for me, about being in the Oncology hospital is the way I stick out like a sore thumb. The average age in there is about 50 + and with out exception I have always been the youngest patient, which means I get a lot of people staring at me. When you feel ill and vulnerable the last thing you want is attention, you just want to be able fade into the back ground as much as possible. This feeling has been made so much worse this week - I've got it in to my mind that when other patients look at me they figure to themselves some thing like this "It's terrible that she's ill, but she's young and has that on her side to help her get better then she has the rest of her long life to look forward to". Which we know, as of last Monday, isn't true anymore.

If you sponsor me I promise to try and beat my previous time and to do the cycle ride without complaining. Thank you!
