Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After trekking the mountains of Cuba in December 2013, I became totally transfixed by its resilient and resourceful people, its revolutionary history, culture and landscape. So much so that on my return to the UK, I was inspired to return and also raise funds for the children and young people of Cuba.
I have chosen to raise £1.5k for the “Music Fund for Cuba” (http://www.musicfundforcuba.org.uk), a UK based charity established by family and friends of Kirsty McCall in her memory. The charity works with the National Centre of Arts and Music Schools in Cuba to send and distribute materials to children and young people for music and performing arts education in Cuba.I will raise the funds by running two half marathons and by cycling the coast of Cuba in 2014. The Shakespeare Half Marathon (Target £500) is on 27 April 2014 and the Birmingham Half Marathon (Target £500) is on 19 October 2014. I will then leave for Cuba on 23 October 2014 to cycle 40 kms per day over 16 days with Exodus Adventure Holidays (Target £500).
Here's to being fearless and free!
Successful projects supported by the Music Fund for Cuba to date include providing essential equipment to the Abel Santamaria school for visually impaired kids and the renovation of the Miramar Community theatre in Havana.
Real challenges remain for people living in Cuba so I would very much value your support.
