My daughter Amy was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in May 2013.This is a form of blood cancer. After 6 months of chemotherapy treatment she has now been in full remission for 18 months. Amy continues to recover with the support of her husband Michael and her family.

The Lymphoma Association were very helpful to me ,her Mum, during the initial diagnosis and subsequent treatment with information. We really knew very little at that time about this disease. I have tried to support their work in a small way since.

A few months ago they developed an online training programme for GP's to spot the signs of Lymphoma when patients presented with certain symptoms. This was particularly apt in Amy's case as she visited her doctor many times before she was eventually referred. This programme has cost money to set up but is now working very well.

Their work is primarily in supporting patients and their families during and after treatment with help and information but also extends out into the community with support groups etc.

My amazing niece Faye and her husband Jason Barras have agreed to help in raising money through this Just Giving page by taking part in a triathlon that has been organised by the Brownlee brothers ,Olympic Gold and Bronze Triathlon winners, London 2012. The event is on the 26th of September, 2015 at Harewood House, Leeds.

They are both entering the Supersprint event that comprises a 400m open water swim, a 13km Cycle race and a 3km Run. I feel exhausted just writing that! I'm sure you'll forgive me in not doing the event myself but I will be there with my family cheering them on in September.
