Story
Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues, as some of you know, Guy and I lost a very dear friend last year. Marey, who fought an extremely hard battle over two long and painful years, died from breast cancer. She left a lovely family behind her; Tim, Amy and Joel and was devastated that she would no longer live to see her children grow up.
In memory of our lovely friend, who we miss greatly, and to try to help others to fight this awful disease, Guy and I have decided to fundraise for Cancer Research UK.On April 28th we will be travelling by Ferry to Santander, Spain, and with two friends will cycle approximately 700 miles to St. Malo. We will be CAMPING! (don’t laugh too loudly) along the way so will have to haul all our equipment with us too.
We hope to cover an average of 60 miles per day, although the first 180 miles (Guy told me it was only 120 when I agreed to do it!) will be at the edge of the Pyrenees (there’s nothing like a challenge!) so we will probably only be able to puff and wheeze our way through about 30 miles a day of mountains for the first few days. As we are sure many of you have been touched by Cancer in some way in your lives, we hope that you will want to sponsor us on this journey. Marey’s husband Tim has set up ‘Inspired Living’ to try and raise as much money as possible through various events for Cancer Research UK. Our money will be going into this pot to hopefully make a significant difference to the total. If you would like to donate, you can do it by either sending a cheque to us, made payable to ‘Inspired Living’ or go to http://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Barratt or complete the sponsor sheet.
We will be keeping you updated of our progress on Anne's facebook page and Guy has set up twitter at http://guyandanne.blogspot.com/
