Story
Well, I’m just about to reach the ripe young age of 50, and managed to survive, despite Mark’s attempts to see me off – last one being on a snowy Wind Gap up from Mosedale!
Seriously though we’ve had fantastic times going back “home” to the Lakes walking up most the fells in all sorts of conditions and been fortunate enough not to call on the assistance of the Mountain Rescue teams. Some people haven’t been quite to lucky, as we witnessed last year as we sat by the Sty Head Stretcher box on a wet and wild day before our final leg up Great Gable.
We realise the time, dedication and commitment put in by those that volunteer for the Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), and have known some past members. It’s important to keep them funded, especially since you never know when you might need them. As you know, we love walking, I don’t need anything, so the best present for my 50th would be for you to donate to the Mountain Rescue. When we’re back in the Lakes most of the walking we do is around Wasdale and since the Wasdale MRT are based in our village (Gosforth) I thought what better than to have my 50th dedicated to help keep them funded!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for my birthday pressie.
Hope I don't need them in coming years - Mark ;-)
