**POST-10k UPDATE**
So...we did it!
Despite a distinct lack of training on my part, a severe dose of 'can-I-do-this?' nerves throughout the race, the lovely Bryan practically dragged me around the course.
This involved pep-talks, Mr Motivator-style encouragement when I needed it most (or as it felt at the time, least!) and patience and silence the rest of the time. We even overtook a giant human Minion at the very end and sprinted over the finish line.
Our finishing time was 1hr 10mins (with Bryan making it over the finishing line a full 1 second in front of me - damn him!).
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has been so generous to donate to this page so far, and to those who have pledged to donate. I am blown away by the amount of money we've managed to raise for The Thistle Foundation.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Great Scottish Run 10k to raise money for The Thistle Foundation - a Scottish Charity that supports people with disabilities and health conditions to lead full lives.
Earlier on this year, the lovely Louise Page, wife of our friend Alan Ainsley, died from bone cancer. Louise worked at The Thistle Foundation and was incredibly proud of the great work they do.
If you haven't already read Lou & Alan's blog about their journey with cancer, you should. It will make you sit up and take notice and appreciate all the little things we take for granted.
Lou's blog had a profound impact on me, and I'm sure, on everyone else who followed it from around the globe.
She took part in a fascinating documentary looking behind the scenes at internationally-renowned photographer, Rankin's 'Alive in the Face of Death' exhibition. You can watch the full documentary here. Lou & Al's main section start 50 minutes in. Lou's last goal was to make it along to the opening of the Alive exhibition in Liverpool's Walker gallery, which she did. She died at home with her parents and Al by her side, a few days later.
I've made a last minute decision to run this 10k (despite being pretty out of shape and having not really trained for the distance) because I'm conscious that Lou, and other people like her would love to have the opportunity to do this.
Please sponsor me if you can.
