Story
3 years of university, and mum and dad have had enough of paying my travel to see them every holiday. This time, they're making me cycle... no, not really, but what better way to say goodbye to the uni years than an incredible challenge for an incredible charity.
So, come July I will be packing my belongings and giving my behind all the rest it needs for the coming 4 days of saddle-induced agony! Bring it on!
I will update here with pictures (probably of me wiped out) of my training and fund raising as I go along, so check back to keep updated, and please donate as much or as little as you can.
Hope for Children is a fantastic charity, here’s a bit more about it:
“About Us
We are a low-cost and no frills charity and are proud to say that the largest amount possible of your donations go directly to the cause for which they were intended. We manage to keep our costs low thanks to our volunteers. We work with grass roots projects around the world and we aim to catch those who cannot get aid, support or assistance elsewhere. We really do offer hope to those who need it the most.
Our Mission
o To improve the quality of life and advance the rights of children.
o To bring about change for good on behalf of children and families, and encourage them to participate in processes which enhance their equality, self-reliance and long term sustainable development.
o Wherever possible to provide practical support which allows children to grow up within their own families and communities.
Our Aims
Hope for Children (HOPE) was officially registered as a Charity in 1994 to coincide with the International Year of the Family. It is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit making organisation. HOPE is accountable through its constitution to its members and an Executive Committee of Trustees.
HOPE's aims and objectives are to help disabled, orphaned, poor and exploited children, in particular those living in developing countries. This is achieved through providing, promoting and advancing children’s rights to basic necessities, including education and health care, aimed at sustaining their long term development.”
