Story
Dear Friends
This week is Myeloma awareness week. Myeloma is a form of blood cancer and affects around 24,000 in the UK. Although it is incurable, research has developed treatments that can be very effective at controlling the disease, relieving its symptoms and complications, and prolonging life. I have recently be diagnosed with it and will soon need treatment. This will involve 6 months of chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant and 3 to 6 months of recovery. Lockdown has given me lots of practice for this!! I am very fortunate in that I don’t have to worry about working or parenting and my only concern will be looking after Treacle. Again, I am so lucky to have a circle of wonderful friends who will help and give me the support I need
I am now a supporter of Myeloma Uk which is charity whose mission is to provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments. I have set up a Just Giving page and would be very grateful for any donations. For further information on Myeloma UK and this disease please go to www.myeloma.org.uk
