Story

Thirty years ago my journalist dad was killed reporting in the Lebanon. This year - in his memory - I hope to run Brighton Marathon for Winston's Wish, the children's bereavement charity.
As part of my fundraising efforts, I am putting together a blog which gives other adults - either those bereaved as children, or those supporting a grieving child - a chance to talk about their experiences. I want to show how important it is that youngsters have access to the help they need, so they can go on to live normal and hopefully happy lives.
Winston's Wish works tirelessly to support children and their families whose lives have been turned upside down by the death of a loved one. It gives practical and emotional support, bringing light to the darkest of times. It provides links between bereaved children, letting them know they are not the only ones. It helps them realise that crying is a normal and healthy part of the grieving process.
As a former volunteer, I have witnessed first hand the good Winston's Wish does. It is a truely remarkable charity and I am proud to support it.
