Story
South Downs Walk
8th to 18th September 2022
10 year ago, our daughter, Anna, took her own life after struggling with mental illness for nearly two decades. Horse riding was her passion and one of the things she most enjoyed was riding the South Downs Way.
10 years on, we plan to walk the 100 miles of the South Downs Way when, between us we are aged 150 years. 3 years ago, David was on a life support machine for 3 days with a breathing problem and our practice walks are reminding us that the walk is more of a challenge than we thought! Walking is acknowledged to be one of the best things we can do for our mental wellbeing.
For 10 years we have supported Mind, the national mental health charity (who are celebrating their 75th anniversary) helping to raise awareness of mental illness and challenge stigma. We have seen a great improvement in that 10 years but we want to help Mind continue with their vital work by raising £10,000.
Anna was a beautiful and clever girl who was much loved but was robbed of her life by her mind. We think of her every day and miss her more than we can say.
