Story
Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I'm currently undergoing training to run the Cambridge Half Marathon on 28th February for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. As you may already be aware, it is a charity close to my heart as I'm part of the hospice's administration team. This means that I get to see, hear about, and be a small part in the amazing specialist care and support it provides to patients, their family, and friends on a daily basis.
I started my training at the beginning of November, and as most of you know I am definitely not the seasoned runner! I'm now running 3 times a week - 2 shorter runs after work during the week, and 1 longer run at the weekend. I'm managing to slowly build-up my strength, distance, and stamina each week, but it's proving to be a massive challenge both physically and mentally so please sponsor me!
A little bit about Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and what your donation will mean:
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides free specialist care and support for adults living in Cambridgeshire with life-limiting illnesses. It needs to raise £2million each year to help deliver its services both in the hospice itself and within the community. For example one of its services, Hospice at Home, provides night care for those wanting to remain in the comfort of home in the last few weeks of life.
Before I started working at Arthur Rank Hospice, I had a fairly misguided image of what a hospice is. Of course it has its sadnesses, but it is also full of life, character, and cherished moments. There are no restricted visiting hours to the ward, pets can visit, and family and friends can stay with access to beds, a lounge and kitchen. As described by one relative, it helps to "make the unbearable bearable".
With your donations towards my Cambridge Half Marathon challenge, we can help provide more care and support for those who need it most, "making every moment count".
