Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When I was 16 I lost my squash coach to a brain tumour. Four years later, on the anniversairy of his death, I lost my second squash coach to the same disease. I was therefore devasted to learn that my Godfather was diagnosed with the same disease a couple of years ago, and is still fighting this horrific battle.

It really shocked me how common this disease was. I didn't realise that over 8, 500 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour and 3, 500 people lose their lives to brain tumours each year and that it is the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under the age of 40. In addition to this, every year £500 million is spent on cancer research in the UK however, only 2% of this is on brain tumours.

That is why I am running my first marathon for the Brain Tumour Charity, to provide funds to improve the diagnosis, treatment and understanding of brain tumours, so that one day this devastating disease can be beaten. The Brain Tumour Charity relies 100% on voluntary donations. So please dig deep and donate as much as you can.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
