Anna’s 999 Year of Challenges
A mother of seven who celebrated her 65th birthday by jumping out of a plane, Margaret Murray – my mum – is a remarkable woman. Now aged nearly 90, she has Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body Dementia and I wanted to do a fundraising challenge that will both contribute to research into this condition and pay tribute to the bravest, most extraordinary woman I know.
One challenge didn’t seem quite enough to do her justice, so I’m doing 9 challenges in 9 months – one for every decade of her life.
The goal is to raise £9k for Parkinson’s UK.
That’s my 999 year of challenges
You can sponsor me for one challenge, several, the whole thing – or just throw some money into the pot for the charity I’m supporting.
Just for context, unlike my mum, I have never jumped out of a plane before. Nor have I run a 10k, let alone a marathon. I’m doing all this from a standing start because I want to make it count. You can help me by giving what you can to help fund research into treatments and support for families affected by Parkinson’s Disease.
My 9 challenges are:
· 10K run
· Zipwire
· 50km walk
· Skydive
· Tough Mudder
· Abseil
· Half marathon
· Marathon
· Edinburgh 7 summits challenge
Whatever you can contribute – even if it’s only advice on how to avoid blisters – thank you.
