I am running in memory of my grandad, one of the funniest men I will ever know (luckily my dad has inherited his sense of humour). Age UK support the elderly community in more ways that you are probably aware of. 225,000 older people often go a whole week without speaking to anyone and this absolutely breaks my heart. It’s important to me to raise money for Age UK so that those who made our world what it is today remain loved. My grandma can’t get her head around how I’m going to run this marathon but I’m doing it to make her proud! Any donation is appreciated no matter how small. Thanks!!

Most people will feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that - in most cases - will thankfully pass. Sadly, 2.65m older people feel they have no one to turn to for help and around 3.9m older people consider TV to be their main form of company.
