Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I wasn't planning to raise money when I started training for the Manchester marathon as it was just a personal challenge I was undertaking. However, the last few months have changed everything as very sadly I have recently lost my Dad, Nick, to the liver disease, Primary Schlerosing Cholangistis (PSC). It happened so quickly in the end that I have even had to update this page into the past tense.
Dad lived with PSC for the last 15 years but since Christmas his liver function rapidly declined and he was unable to have a transplant due to other complications. My Dad was such a kind and gentle person who had a never-ending knowledge about almost everything in the world. He cared about our family so much and also made the most incredible speech at our wedding last year which people are still talking about! I am so proud of how he faced up to that challenge and and am now facing up to the challenge of my first ever marathon in his memory.
Much is still unknown about PSC, a rare disease with no known cause and which is currently untreatable. More research is therefore vital in order to find ways of slowing the disease and raising the quality of life for those who have it. It's too late for my Dad but it might not be for someone else with PSC, so any money we raise will go to PSC Support, helping to fund future studies on the disease. If you can sponsor Brian and I, and help to motivate us to get through the last few weeks of intensive training and the (slightly terrifying!) 26.2 miles we have ahead we would be hugely grateful.
Thank you!
Anna and Brian xx
