Story
In a moment of insanity I have agreed to take part in a 10km assault course along with 8 of my colleagues at Webb Yates Engineers. And it's not just any 10km assault course; it's the "Men's Health Survival of the Fittest" 10km assault course. It's like Total Wipeout on steroids and I am definitely not "the fittest". The course combines a 10km run with 22 obstacles including mud, ice, monkey bars and climbing through skips. Just to make it more fun it also takes place in November!
Why am I doing this? Well, we're aiming to raise as much money as possible for Practical Action, a charity whose aim is "to use technology to challenge poverty". By working with local communities in more than 40 developing countries worldwide, sharing skills, knowledge and expertise, Practical Action provides practical solutions to the problems they face. As well as improving access to clen water, sanitation, food and energy Practical Action uses technology to to help reduce vulnerability to disasters and uses their knowledge to help inform policy decisions that can make a real difference to people's lives.
In order to raise as much money as possible Webb Yates Engineers will match every pound you donate, doubling the money we donate to Practical Action.
So please donate whatever you can to support a brilliant charity. If you'd like to come and watch the event takes places on the 17th November around Battersea Park and Power Station, It would be great to see you there, especially if you have a first aid qualification...
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
