We did it! Caitlin and I completed the ride without any drama's. The weather was fantastic and the views spectacular. We rode across open fields, through amazing forestry with the leaves starting to turn their glorious autumn hues and then out on to the Beacons before heading home again.

Update - My young neighbour is coming along to support the cause . Caitlin ( aged 10 ) and her pony Jazz ( aged 17 ) are joining me ( not admitting to my exact age but the wrong side of 55! ) and my horse Faith (aged 16 ).

Many of you will know Dai (my 'other half's' )  life was saved by the Wales Air Ambulance service, when he suffered a heart attack. I decided that it was time to do more than buy raffle tickets and pop some money in the collecting tin.

I'm taking part in another fun ride ( at my age I'm not too sure that's an accurate description!)  through the beautiful Brecon Beacons on 16th October 2011. All donations help to secure this essential emergency service. It supports not only our local communities but our many adventurous visitors and tourists too, backing up the Mountain Rescue and Coast- Guards .

Each 'mission' flown by the air ambulance costs the charity approx £1,200. The helicpoters can be air-bourne in 3 mins and with the patient within 20 mins, even in the remotest part of Wales. When Dai was air-lifted off the farm, the Air Ambulance landed at Hereford Hospital within 14 mins of taking off. A journey that would have taken over an hour by road, with every second vital to his survival. On our twisting rural lanes it would have been very uncomfortable and stressful. He arrived at the hospital before I had reached our nearest town 5 miles away!
