On Friday the 11 of October, a strange event will take place…

 

The Sick Kids' Save Point.

 

We're going to raise money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation; which supports the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. The Hospital receives over 100,000 children through its doors each year from all over the country. Your money will go towards:

 

* Extra comforts, which make time in hospital better for children

 

* Facilities

 

* Extra medical equipment

 

* Support for sick children who are cared for in the Community

 

* Funding for extra training and research

 

 

Basically, the Sick Kids' Save Point is a bunch of geeks staying awake and playing a variety of table-top games for 24 hours straight (in many cases, after a day at work).

 

Think dungeons & Dragons, but with less story telling & more backstabbing. Imagine card games with vampires & ghouls, sheriffs & outlaws. Throw in an Xbox and a 3DS for good measure.

 

Well, I'm going to be doing that. For twenty-four hours.

Those of you who know me will also know that I'm a sleeper. And I don't mean a covert KGB agent still waiting for the Go order; I mean someone who can sleep the clock around & still need a nap in the afternoon.

 

This is going to be damned hard work for me.

 

So, the gist of it is; I'm going to get my geek on for a very loooooonnnnggg time & quite possibly end up with a dose of caffeine poisoning. All in aid of a very worthwhile charity. In order to put myself through this ordeal, I need you kind souls to sponsor me!
