I wanted to do a charity run for a long time, but could not quite find the right opportunity. Now I found the Colour Run and I got excited straight away! I also wanted to run for a charity that supports cancer research. I have encountered cancer in my own family on two occasions, but there are so many cases around me too, way too many! I hear about cases from colleagues and friends and the devastation is unbearable. I am proud to be able to make a difference and would be so grateful if you could help me and my chosen charity in fighting cancer!

I like the concept of the Colour Run as it promotes happiness and healthiness, both of which I was lacking about two years ago. 2011 was my worst year when I fell ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and it turned my whole life upside down. I spent two months asleep and completely debilitated and isolated, until I learned more about my illness and how to deal with it and I finally started feeling better after 7 months. It took another 5 months before I even attempted any excercise and I thought I would never be able to do any sports again, not to mention a 5k run. Progress was slow and frustrating and it was not always easy for others to understand why, for example, after hoovering the lounge for 10 minutes I then had to lie down and sleep for two hours. 

I have come a long way since then and am very proud of myself for not giving up. So what better way to celebrate my recovery to date, than by running 5k and being bathed in coloured powder along the way! I also want to take this opportunity to thank those family members and friends that helped me along the way, I am also doing this run for you! I especially want to thank my sister Verena, my best friend Faith and my health coach Ania Nowicki, because, seriously, when do you ever get the chance to thank someone properly!
