Fundraising for Refuge
From me:
As a few of those close to me know, throughout my childhood I grew up around domestic abuse and violence. There's no doubt that those memories and experiences stay with you throughout your life and shape the person you become and the way you live. We (my mum and I) were lucky enough to have the support of family to be able to finally leave that situation but I'm very aware that a lot of women and children don't have those support structures. It's not something I often talk about but the work that Refuge do is very close to my heart. If the money I raise can help even one child be taken out of a dangerous situation and give them more hope for less trauma in their future, it would be so important!
On to the task at hand, I have to say running a 5K would be a huge personal achievement. Growing up, at school I was never a confident runner and was always the last to pass the finish line, usually red faced and wheezing! I know 5K doesn't sound a lot and probably a warm up for many people, but for me, its a big goal and would be a first. I'm currently doing the Couch to 5K programme and really happy with my progress. I'll post updates with my how i'm getting on and I especially cant wait to tell you all when I complete my first ever 5K!

Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.Thank you.
