Story
This February, we are organising a virtual bake-off as a fundraising event for all volunteers and older guests to take part in.
You can be sponsored by friends and family for this event, who can task you with creating and/or decorating a cake/biscuits that you can bring with you to the session. If possible, we'd love you to include an interesting story, piece of family history or something that represents your culture linked to your creation. This could be shared in the session to encourage everyone to share memories.
The baked items will be judged based on their appearance by our very special panel of guests from care homes and individual homes.
Please come along even if you don’t want to bake!
I am organising this event through Kissing it Better with the aim of bringing an end to isolation by connecting young and old, including people living in care homes, in a safe and fun way.
Just remember this event is not entirely about winning but it’s for you guys and our older guests to have fun and share your stories and memories!
To get involved:-
1. Ask a family member or friend to be your sponsor. They can suggest an item to bake and/or decorate OR come up with something you want to make that might have a special memory for you or represents your culture
2. Bake and decorate your item before the 22nd of February
3. Join the event on the 22nd of February at 5pm using the weekly Zoom link in the Kissing it Better newsletter. For details on how to join please contact millie@kibmail.co.uk.
4. Showcase your baked goods, share the story behind it if you'd like to, and listen to everyone's memories
5. Your family member/friend can sponsor you to make these cakes/biscuits by kindly donating to this page. If you are not baking, you can be sponsored to write a story, the best of which will be written up and made available at a later date. And of course, we also welcome you simply to come along and enjoy the fun!
Feel free to donate even if you can’t attend the event!
