John was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease in March 2020. At first it was a gentle decline but during 2022 the rate accelerated and he had to go into residential care in November as his behaviour could not be safely managed at home. After a very short stay in the nursing home, the disease finally won and he died at the end of December. Although we are sad to lose him, in truth this vicious disease had taken him away long before, and his peaceful passing was a release from a life he would not have wanted.

The Alzheimer's Society is an invaluable source of support and information for those living with this disease and those caring for them. The money you would have spent on funeral flowers will help support their work.
