Story
When I received a message from Joanne Goode to ask if I or anyone I know would run the marathon for the much needed funds for Myositis UK I came to the conclusion that it was the least I could do. I see a little of what Jo has to go through every 8 weeks having treatment and really she is the one that has motivated me to do this. I have also recruited my inspirational friend Sandra to join me and run as a team!
Myositis is a rare disease in which the immune system
chronically inflames the body's own healthy muscle tissue. Persistent
inflammation progressively weakens the muscles. No one knows what triggers the
immune system's attack. Myositis can take several forms, usually develops
slowly over time and can range in severity from mild to debilitating or worse.
Both children and adults can get it. Myositis can affect the muscles in the
front of the neck and throat, making it hard to speak or swallow. When it
affects the lungs or chest muscles, you may have trouble breathing.
Although there is no cure for myositis, prompt and aggressive treatment to reduce inflammation can help prevent muscle weakness from progressing and might help restore some strength.
I will just end with asking you very kindly to please donate to Myositis UK., it will be greatly appreciated.
