Angela James began her teaching career at Robert Clack comprehensive school during 1979 as a teacher of Physical Education. Angela became Angela Rootes in 1982 and remained teaching in Barking and Dagenham at various schools as a supply teacher while raising two children

Angela returned to full time teaching PE in 1992 at Brittons School Rainham Essex

In 1996 Angela changed role to become a teacher of children with Special Educational needs and achieved promotion to Director of Learning Support for a number of years

She retired as a teacher in 2015 however remained full time in secondary education at Brittons School SEN department as a HLTA (Higher Learning Teaching Assistant)

Angela was awarded at Jack Petchey award in 2015 for outstanding work with children of special needs and took full retirement in August 2021

Angela Rootes passed away in September 2021. She was passionate about the educational needs and support of local children with SEN requirements in our local boroughs and is well known to the community.  Her family wishes are for donations in her memory to go to a suitable local charity and they chose Sycamore Trust UK.
