Story
Since I ran the GNR last year for Alzheimer’s Society, my lovely daddy sadly passed away so when I get to the end this year he will no longer be physically there to receive my precious medal but I absolutely know that spiritually he will have helped me run every single step to cross that line.
We, his family, all miss him but his love is always with us and hopefully this cause with the help of your generosity- whatever you can give, will be another step further to erasing this cruel disease for the many millions diagnosed with it each year.
I know I can do it but I certainly won’t be breaking any PB’s. This cause is so close to mine and many people’s hearts. I Thank You! ❤️
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
A poem I wrote for dad:
This man.
A man of simple needs
A man with virtuous views
A talented man who could turn his hand to anything; from the workings of a car engine, to the building of a shed
A loving, kind and gentle man with a sensitive soul
A humorous man with a sparkle in his eyes and always a giggle in his belly
A supportive family man who loved , cherished and valued the women and men in his life
A knowledgeable man who loved history, music and the challenges of a daily crossword
A gentle man who valued nature in the peace and tranquility of his beautiful garden
But most of all, this man was a wonderful human being , poised with an honest soul , a hard working ethic , generosity , integrity and kindness which oozed from his veins
This man was our mentor, our husband, our dad and grandfather and This Man will forever thread through our hearts and minds, veins and soul
This is the legacy left by ….
Our man.
