Story
When I was offered a place to run in the London Marathon for Surf Life Saving GB charity it was a no brainer. Not only was much of my misspent youth spent lounging around on beaches and surfing, in recent years I’ve also become a keen runner with a few half marathons and 10ks under my belt. Completing a marathon is certainly going to be a challenge (at the grand old age of 51 quite a terrifying one!) but it’s for a really fantastic cause which has saved thousands of lives across the UK.
The charity is made up entirely of volunteers on British beaches and is funded by donations and sponsorship. The money I can raise will make a real difference to the 6,000 volunteers who give up their time to make our seasides safer. According to the World Heath Organisation, drowning is the second leading cause of death from injury for children in the UK.
I’d be really grateful if you could dig into your pockets and support me and Surf Life Saving GB. Thank you for your generosity.
