Hi i'm running the Edinburgh Marathon again, but this time in aid of 21 & Co.

21 & Co is a registered charity run by parents, offering help and support to children with Down syndrome and their families in South West London and surrounding areas. For parents, finding out that their child has Down syndrome can be a shock. More often than not, the best emotional support comes from meeting other families with children with Down syndrome and sharing their experiences. Having the support of other parents and carers helps them learn about Down syndrome and what having a child with Down syndrome will mean for their family.

21 & Co don't just help children with Down syndrome, they also help their parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents and other family members and friends.They work hard to promote the opportunities open to children with Down syndrome, provide early development resources like social communication therapy and increase awareness, acceptance and understanding of Down syndrome in the local community. They also run drama groups to build on the skills that children gain in the social communication groups, sibling art groups for brothers and sisters of children with Down syndrome and coffee mornings for family and friends.  

A close friend's daughter has Down syndrome and therefore I have seen first hand the effect that Down syndrome has on a family. It has given me a good understanding to the amount of support and care that is needed for both the child and the family.
