We connect and support organisations to tackle homelessness together

Story

In order to raise funds for two very special charities I Have taken on a big running challenge this year culminating with running (and crawling!)  the 185 mile length of Offa's Dyke. This page is for Street Support Network

Street Support Network - Whilst we might moan if we get caught in a shower or spend a few minutes in the cold, it is all too clear that there are a large number of people that we see in Manchester and other cities for whom this is not just a few minutes out in the cold. I will be supporting Street Support Network  who work to link the homeless with support services and a way off the streets.

Alzheimer's Society carry out invaluable work in supporting people who suffer from this terrible disease and working towards treatments. On a personal level Alzheimer's is a disease that I have seen affect family and friends, including my own mother. As we are all aware, the impact this disease has on sufferers and those around them is massive. My Alzheimer’s Society fundraising page is here: http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/andyquicke

The Challenge

I Set off to run the entire length of Offa's Dyke on September 13th. The 185 mile route starts in Chepstow and follows the dramatic scenery from the Severn Estuary, over the Black Mountains up the length of the Welsh border and finishing in Prestatyn after crossing the Clwydian Range. Not forgetting nearly 30,000 feet of ascent and descent. It proved to be something that set me many obstacles- but I was not to be beaten.

This was significantly longer and harder than I have gone before, so I trained hard in the Welsh Mountains and on the local trails to get my body and mind ready for the challenge. I drew on every bit of that steel on my way around.

I also be prepared by running the London Marathon on April 28th  and attempting to run 47 Snowdonia Peaks over 24 hours in July.

I tracked my story as I built towards this goal on a blog at:
