Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Once again veterans from both sides of the door at HMP/YOI Peterborough will be raising money for a Forces charity and this year it is Combat Stress. We will try and cycle (on exercise bikes!) a total of 120 miles which is the distance from HMP/YOI Peterborough to Audley Court, a Combat Stress facility in Shropshire.
So far, former England and British and Irish Lions Scrum Half Matt Dawson has donated some signed England kit and a signed rugby ball which we have raffled and raised £100, but we want to beat last years total of £400 which was raised for the Pilgrim Bandits Charity.
I know it can be a pain in the backside with people asking for your cash for charity ... but please consider the pain there will be in my backside after trying to put in a decent shift on an exercise bike to raise money for those who have given so much!
Each year, a small but significant number of Veterans leave the Armed Forces suffering from mental ill-health. It can cause depression, anxiety and, in some cases, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Founded after the First World War, this work is as vital today as it was in 1919. Combat Stress have a caseload of over 5,400 Veterans, including 662 who have served in Afghanistan.
Combat Stress currently spends nearly £14 million per annum delivering its unique range of specialist treatment and welfare support. Everything they do is free to the Veteran.
