Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My wife Edwina underwent a major operation in March 2020 to remove a tumour deep in her upper abdomen. The operation, known as a Whipple procedure, is about as big as it gets and involves some extensive re-plumbing.
She was under the care of the brilliant surgeon Rob Hutchins and his team at London Bridge Hospital. Happily, in Edwina's case, the operation was entirely successful, removing what turned out to be a completely benign tumour No follow up treatment has been needed and Edwina is fit and healthy again.
A year and a half into an excellent recovery we are counting our blessings at what was a very near miss. As Rob always stressed, most people who need this particular surgical intervention are very seriously ill and the prognosis is often grim.
So we thought the very least we could do was to extend an invitation as widely as possible to help fund the vital research that LAP is pursuing to help improve the prospects of earlier detection and treatment of pancreatic cancer and related conditions. Please take time out to look at the work LAP is doing here - https://www.lapresearch.org/
In late September we are joining up with our friends Eileen, Andy, Beverley and Tim to walk coast to coast along Hadrian's Wall. So I hope you will wish us luck and chip in for a very good cause that is close to our hearts.
