Hi All,
As some of you may know by now I've been accepted in to the 2017 London Marathon on behalf of The Alzheimer's Society which is an incredible charity that does great work and provides support for all those affected by this terrible disease. My Grandmother suffered from this in the last few years of her life and to see what it did to such an amazing woman was quite literally heart-breaking so I'm more than happy to do anything I can to help. Running the marathon wasn't top of my lists though!
Now I am definitely not a runner by any stretch of the imagination as those of you who have had the pleasure of playing football alongside me, playing against me or even those lucky enough to have watched me will testify, so this is a big deal for me. The furthest I've ever run previous to my training for this was 10K, so it's quite a jump up in distance!
I have been training for this since the beginning of November and have got up to 7.5 miles so far and it's going well with no injuries and I haven't hated every step of it either which is surprising! Now Christmas and the New Year are out the way the training is going to be ramped up. I've even signed up for my first ever half marathon in March so hopefully that will prove to you how seriously I'm taking this and that will make you dig a little bit deeper in your pockets so that we can smash the target of £2,000. Every penny really will help The Alzheimer's Society to continue the excellent work they do.
Cheers,
Andy
