Story
If you have followed my story in person, on facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn you know about my journey and how difficult the past few years have been.
After suffering constant 24x7x365 pain in my lower left leg from a condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) for a number of years, leading to severe ulcerations and bleeding, I made the difficult decision to have my leg amputated in the hope of reducing the pain.
The Dr's explained there could be a high chance, that following the amputation the condition could spread to the stump, my other leg or anywhere else within my body. As there was no other options available and I had reached the maximum dose of medication I had no other choice but to have the op.
On June 6th 2022 I passed out at home, fell to the floor and became unconscious and unresponsive. When I came around, I was hit with the worst pain in my leg I have ever felt and passed out again.
The episodes of me passing out happened every 5-6 minutes, with me loosing consciousness for up to a minute each time. This went on for a period 12 hours and the hospital advised that my body could no longer cope with the pain from my leg and was shutting down to protect itself.
I finally had my leg amputated above knee, as an emergency on 16th June 2022.
Amazingly (and crazily) after watching the whole operation awake, with only having just a spinal injection, I was completely and utterly pain free for the first time in over 3 years. I was finally able to feel the air brush over my new leg, shower without having to worry about it getting my leg wet as well as all the other things in life I have missed.
At last I have my life back, I can finally go anywhere and do anything (within reason) without having to worry about my leg being knocked, or the sun, wind or rain causing me even more pain than I was already in.
Because I have NO intentions of letting the loss of a limb slow me down or stop me from doing something I want to do, I am taking part in a 15,000 feet tandem skydive along with many other amputees, to raise awareness and much needed funds for the LimbPower charity.
The date of the skydive couldn't be any better as this coincides with my 1 year Ampuversary.
Limbpower helps to engage amputees and individuals with limb impairments in physical activities such as sport and art to help improve their quality of life and help to aid lifelong rehabilitation.
Please help me smash the target of £500!!!!
