York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity raises funds to help make a positive difference in your local hospital - making patients, relatives and visitors feel better and providing a level of care that is beyond that which NHS funding alone could deliver.

Story

So last year, I ran the York 10k for York Mind and this year I felt I should step up a little!

York Teaching Hospitals was one of the key partners of the York 10k, so when I, a beloved governor of the trust turned up in a York Mind T-Shirt ready to race I was "playfully" told that unless I ran for them next year I'd be seconded to the committee on sustainable bed pan disposal.

So with no pressure what so ever, here I am again asking for your pennies for another fantastic charity. Recently, along with the Friends of Selby Hospital, the charity donated dialysis equipment to the value of £50,000, this saves hundreds of hours of travel time for those in need of dialysis in Selby, which they can now spend with their families.

I'm certainly not going to raise £50,000! But all the funds raised while I puff around Newcastle will go to similar good causes, which help sick people feel a little bit better.

Yo can find out much more about the charity than my clumsy words can relay by having a look at their webpage: http://www.yorkhospitals.nhs.uk/get_involved/fundraising/about/
